The iconic motion picture of the millennium, Notting Hill, got Ronan Keating to record its version for the romantic comedy film starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. The soundtrack was recorded while Keating was still a member of Boyzone. When the single peaked at number one in the UK charts, this led to Keating going solo and releasing his debut solo album Ronan in 2000 which sold 750,000 copies and became one of the top selling albums of the year in the United Kingdom. Several additional songs written by other artists include Elvis Costello’s cover of the Charles Aznavour song “She”, and Shania Twain’s remixed version of “You’ve Got A Way.”

Notting Hill was nominated several times and also won a few awards, including:

  • Audience Award for Most Popular Film at the BAFTAs in 2000
  • Nominated for Outstanding British Film of the year in The Alexander Korda Award
  • Best Performance by an Actor in a supporting role for Rhys Ifans
  • Best Comedy Film at the British Comedy Awards
  • Best Soundtrack at the Brit Awards
  • Best British Film at the Empire Awards
  • Best British Director for Roger Michell at the Empire Awards
  • Best British Actor for Hugh Grant at the Empire Awards
  • Three nominations at the Golden Globes, in the categories
  • Nominated Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical at the Golden Globes
  • Nominated Best Motion Picture Actor – Comedy/Musical for Hugh Grant at the Golden Globes
  • Nominated Best Motion Picture Actress – Comedy/Musical for Julia RobertsĀ  at the Golden Globes
