While Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn were fine in their day, they’ve got nothing on the current crop of country music beauties, including the big winners at this week’s Country Music Awards (CMA) Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, Grace Potter.

Here’s a photo gallery of the best women in country music as you may have never seen them before!

Taylor Swift: Rolling Stone called Swift “the new Morrissey.” We can’t begin to imagine what that’s supposed to mean, mostly because we’re too busy ogling her to think about it.

This American singer-songwriter isn’t just a pretty face on the music scene, she’s also a very talented artist. “Love Story” was written and performed by Taylor Swift in 2008 as the lead single in her second album, Fearless. The song actually talks about Taylor’s love interest, a man who was never officially her boyfriend and who wasn’t popular with her friends and family members. She used a similar scenario in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as a source of inspiration to compose the song, but with a happy ending.

“It’s about a love that you’ve got to hide because for whatever reason it wouldn’t go over well. I spun it in the direction of Romeo and Juliet. Our parents are fighting. I relate to it more as a love that you cannot really elaborate on — a love that maybe society wouldn’t accept (or) maybe your friends wouldn’t accept.”

In a little more than a year, the single sold 6.5 million copies becoming the best-selling single of all time. Besides this, the song peaked number four on the Billboard Hot 100, became the best-selling single in the United States, best-selling country single, received a quintuple platinum status by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and also became a number single and certified triple platinum in Australia.
